Globally, policies and food technology are being developed to alleviate hunger, address droughts, floods, pests, and other threats to food production. In the past decade, the Chinese state government has made aggressive moves to beef up its domestic agricultural industry. Starting with its consolidation of smallholder farms into a smaller number of coops and commercial farm operations, it has implemented a mix of policies and incentives that will accelerate the modernization of the agricultural sector and support innovations for years to come.

What types of startups are best positioned to capture these opportunities and what roles will corporations and investors play?
